Who owes what?
A quick calculator for the costs you share: list what each of you paid, choose how you split, and get one number.
Expenses
Keeping a running tally?
The calculator is for a one-off sum. If costs come up every month, ParentHelm’s shared expense log keeps each one with its receipt photo and split, lets the other parent agree it, and shows the balance to both of you. Both of you can read and agree it for free, and each of you can add 10 expenses a month. ParentHelm Pro ($4.99 a month) removes that limit for whoever buys it.

How do you split child expenses by income?
Add both incomes together and work out each parent’s share of the total. If one earns 60,000 and the other 40,000, the split is 60% and 40%, and each shared cost is divided the same way. Choose “By income” above and it does this for you.
Which expenses do parents usually share?
Commonly: school trips and supplies, uninsured medical and dental costs, childcare, after-school activities, and big items like a laptop for school. Day-to-day food and clothes are often left with whichever home the children are in. Your parenting plan or court order may say exactly what is shared.
Is this child support?
No. Child support is set by rules that differ by state and country. This calculator only splits extra costs the two of you have agreed to share.
ParentHelm keeps a dated record of your schedule, swaps, expenses and messages. It does not give legal advice, and it is not a court-approved or court-mandated service. For advice about custody or a parenting plan, talk to a family lawyer or mediator where you live.
